Halloween Silent Retreat - Learning to Love Our Fears
How can we learn to love our fears? By meditating on death and Impermanence. Though it may seem counterintuitive at first, remembering death is actually the most life-affirming thing we can do. Far from being crippling or inhibiting, skillfully contemplating our own mortality is supremely motivating and empowering. In fact, death awareness awakens us into a life beyond fear – giving us the freedom to cast off our complacency and clarify the things that really matter. With death awareness we live each day as fully and as meaningfully as possible – extracting the very essence of our life, our relationships, and our astonishing potential for growth and development.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a silent retreat?
A silent retreat is a time when we refrain from speaking with our body and speech. But silence is not just about not talking; it is about watching our mind and developing an inner quality of stillness. In silence, we engage with the meditation object more intimately. We also start listening to the Dharma from deep within our heart, which gives us a special inner experience of the teachings we receive. Penetrating insights arise, and when we hold them with firm mindfulness, we find that Dharma experience pervades and deeply nourishes our heart.
Is this silent retreat suitable for beginners?
